April’s book of the month is White by Kenya Hara, the renowned Japanese graphic designer and former longtime creative director of the iconic brand Muji. White is a focused examination of Hara’s design philosophy, which is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and emphasizes the importance of simplicity and functionality.
Selected to provide insight into the design principles found in the exhibition Radical Clay: Contemporary Women Artists from Japan, this book offers a theoretical backdrop for the technical achievements and creativity of leading female ceramicists from the post-war era. Join us to explore how these principles parallel the artists' discovery of new possibilities for clay as a radical medium.
This program is intended for audiences 18 years and older.
