Step into 17th-century Florence during April’s First Friday at Phoenix Art Museum. This month, we're drawing inspiration from the dramatic works in Florentine Baroque: The Haukohl Collection for an evening of bold creativity, lively energy, and hands-on artistry.

Failed Poetry Open Mic with Rashaad Thomas
In honor of National Poetry Month, join local poet Rashaad Thomas for an open mic that celebrates “failed poetry.” We’re embracing imperfection, vulnerability, and raw honesty. Share or listen to verses that resist polish to reveal unexpected beauty.
Gilded Frames with Crafty Chica
Join Crafty Chica to design your own custom frame, full of Baroque-era opulence and your unique style.
Floral Sketching
Capture the decadent beauty of live floral arrangements designed by Bloom + Blueprint. Grab a pencil and join Sketchclub Cafe to explore light, shadow, and still-life motifs inspired by the Baroque masters.
Live Figure Drawing
Practice your technique with live models. Local figurative artists Mike Garcia and Chris Vena will be on hand to provide guidance and tips as you sketch.
Docent Led Tour
Experience Florentine Baroque through a bilingual lens. This blended-language tour celebrates Spanglish as our love language, offering a new perspective on the exhibition. All are welcome and no fluency is required. This tour begins at 6:30 pm.
