Charles Gaines, Numbers and Trees: Arizona Series 1, Tree #3, Agua Caliente
Phoenix Art Museum debut exhibit Charles Gaines: Numbers and Trees (Arizona Series) is his most recent work. The tree motif has been a central element of Gaines’ art since the 1970s. In this new series, he showcases eight large-scale triptychs featuring cottonwoods photographed along the San Pedro River near Sierra Vista, AZ. Join Master Docent Nancy Levin as she explores Gaines’ unique process of transforming images and text-based documents into numerical structures.
