Storytime in the Galleries with Author Violet Duncan

Share the joy of early literacy and art-inspired play with our youngest Museum visitors.
Families and friends are invited for a special reading of I am Native by award-winning author Violet Duncan (Cree and Taino). Experience a glimpse into the beautiful world of a multigenerational Native family and discover how customs are shared in traditional and modern ways.
Children must be accompanied by their grown-up(s). Storytime is included with general admission and free for Museum Members. Limited capacity, advance reservations required.
Author Violet Duncan
Violet Duncan is Plains Cree and Taino from Kehewin Cree Nation. She has toured nationally and internationally as an author, educator, dancer, and storyteller. Violet facilitates workshops to promote cultural education and spiritual wellness across the United States, Canada, and Europe. After becoming a mother of four and seeing the need for Native representation in literature, she took it upon herself to author three award-winning children's books, I am Native, When We Dance and Let's Hoop Dance!

Autor Violet Duncan
Violeta Duncan es Plains Cree y Taino de Kehewin Cree Nation. ella ha viajado nacional e internacionalmente como autor, educador, bailarín y cuentista. Violeta facilita talleres para promover la educación cultural y bienestar espiritual en los Estados Unidos, Canadá y Europa. Después convertirse en madre de cuatro hijos y ver la necesidad de una representación nativa en literatura, se encargó de escribir tres libros infantiles galardonados libros, Soy Nativo, Cuando Bailamos y ¡Bailemos el Hoop!
