On view now, Guarding the Art: A Frontline Perspective challenges traditional museum hierarchies highlighting artworks from the PhxArt Collection chosen by guest curators selected from the Museum’s frontline staff.
Join librarian Jesse Lopez, and the organizer of Guarding the Art, Cohn assistant curator of contemporary and community art initiatives, Christian Ramírez, to discuss All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me by Patrick Bringley. Bringley is a former New Yorker staffer who spent a decade as a frontline museum guard at the famed institution.
“An astounding book about an astounding place. All the Beauty in the World is at once a keenly intelligent examination of the power of art and a profoundly empathetic exploration of the workaday culture that makes art visible to all.” —Alex Ross, New Yorker staff writer and author of Wagnerism and The Rest is Noise
