This fall, PhxArt is proud to present a major retrospective of the renowned contemporary South Korean artist Kim Chong Hak, whose acclaimed mature work focuses on nature, landscapes, and vegetation. The Vegetarian, by Nobel Prize-winning South Korean author Han Kang, is an intense, hypnotic, and terrifying book colored with shades of Kafkaesque horror about the psychological undoing of a woman. Yeong-hye, commits to becoming a vegetarian against her family’s wishes and despite being part of a highly carnivorous culture. One of the strangest and most memorable books I’ve read in years, this one will linger with you.
