Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, Madonna and Child

This May, as we honor the mothers in our lives, join Master Docent Sherry Koopot for an exploration of Baroque painter Giovanni Francesco Barbieri's Madonna and Child. In Christian art, Mary has long been depicted as the devoted mother of the infant Jesus. However, in today's context, she represents far more-embodying maternal compassion, motherhood, and the strength of femininity.
